Day 1 - 3 Arrival & Explore Historic Paramaribo

Upon arrival at the airport in Suriname, you will be picked up and transferred to a stylish hotel in the heart of historic Paramaribo where your round trip begins. This fine hotel blends comfort and a unique ambiance with personal service, providing the perfect environment to relax and acclimatize.

Thanks to its central location, the historic city center, bustling markets, and a variety of bars and restaurants of Paramaribo are easily explored on foot, allowing you to experience the city at your own rhythm.

On Day 2, discover the unique atmosphere of the historic city center of Paramaribo during a City Tour. Marvel at the monumental wooden architecture around the Presidential Palace and the Waterkant, and visit the Mosque and Synagogue, standing peacefully side by side. You will also explore the bustling Central Market and discover the rich history of Fort Zeelandia—a complete tour along the iconic highlights of Paramaribo.

 

Day 3 - 5 Bigi Pan Nature Reserve

From Paramaribo, you’ll travel to the unique Bigi Pan Nature Reserve. On the way, you’ll pass through the lush Saramacca district, the picturesque Coronie, and the expansive rice fields of Nickerie.

 

Bigi Pan is an officially protected nature reserve and wetland area of 67,000 hectares, rich in flora and fauna, including flamingos, scarlet ibises, and other extraordinary coastal birds. Together with a local guide, you will explore the area in search of flamingos, scarlet ibises, and perhaps even a caiman.

You will stay in a stylish, standalone lodge built on stilts above the water, offering a private balcony with breathtaking views of the lake, where the colors of the sky and water constantly change. A unique place to experience the magic of this nature reserve in full comfort and style.

 

Day 5 - 7 Bloemendaal Apartments, Groningen

​

After returning from Bigi Pan, you will spend 2 nights at the small-scale Bloemendaal Apartments along the Saramacca River. This is the ideal place to recharge and offers plenty of relaxation by the pool. Explore the peaceful village of Groningen, or take an early morning boat trip to spot animals.

​

A special highlight nearby is the local sloth rescue center. In the evenings, you can enjoy the culinary creations of the resident chef, who prepares delicious meals using fresh, local ingredients.

On Day 7, the journey returns to Paramaribo to start the next stage of this comfortable round trip.

 

Day 7 - 8 Paramaribo

A short return to Paramaribo for an overnight stay without scheduled excursions. Finish your day with a delicious dinner at one of the refined restaurants the city has to offer.

 

Day 8 Brownsberg Nature Park

Today, you will take a day trip to Brownsberg National Park. Hike through the jungle, admire waterfalls, and enjoy panoramic views of the Brokopondo Reservoir. A perfect combination of nature and comfort during this exclusive day trip.

 

Day 8 - 10 Wellness at Houttuyn

You will stay for the next two nights in an oasis of peace on the banks of the Suriname River. This atmospheric resort has been carefully designed and offers a unique combination of nature, comfort, and hospitality; the ideal place for those who want to completely recharge.

Day 10 - 13 Upper Suriname River & Maroon Culture

You will stay on a beautiful island along the Upper Suriname River, where the rich Maroon culture and pristine jungle come together. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by the local residents from the surrounding villages, who will proudly introduce you to their traditions. A stay here means not only enjoying comfort but also directly contributing to the local community; social impact and an authentic experience go hand in hand.

​The resort is a place to completely unwind. Seek relaxation by the swimming pool, roll out your mat on the yoga deck, or enjoy a drink at the bar. Your charming wooden lodge features a private terrace with a hammock—the ideal place to do absolutely nothing with the sounds of the rainforest in the background.

Day 13 - 14 Paramaribo

Day 14 - 17 Kabalebo Nature Resort

Day 17 - 19 Former Plantation Frederiksdorp

For the next two nights, you’ll stay at a unique location in Commewijne, a charming former plantation that now serves as a comfortable stay. You will be picked up after arriving back at the local airport in Paramaribo and transferred to the accommodation.

 

Enjoy relaxing moments by the pool, choose from one of the optional excursions, or sample the local dishes prepared with care. Want to explore the surroundings? Grab a bicycle to discover the neighboring plantations. Every place here has its own story and a charming appearance, making it ideal for a short stop.

Day 19 - 20 Peperpot & Peperpot Evening Tour

The final night of your round trip will be spent at a special location in Commewijne, directly at the edge of the Peperpot Nature Park. From Frederiksdorp, you will be transferred to this small-scale accommodation, where modern comfort and the charm of Surinamese heritage come together.

​

You will stay in a comfortable room in one of the beautifully restored buildings of the former plantation. From the 'backyard' of the hotel, you can walk straight into the nature park, a paradise for nature lovers. During a walk or bike ride through the park, you will be surrounded by an impressive wealth of birds and butterflies. With a bit of luck, you might spot monkeys, sloths, or even an anteater during the day.

​

Relax by the pool, explore the trails by bike, or rent a kayak to discover the park from the water. The atmospheric restaurant, located in a historic plantation house, is the ideal place to look back on all your impressions while enjoying delicious local dishes.

​

When evening falls, head out with an experienced guide for a walk through the adjacent nature park. In the mystical twilight, the forest comes to life as you search for the many nocturnal animals that live here. Make sure to wear closed shoes, as the tour takes you over unpaved paths deep into nature. Together with your guide, you will search for wildlife such as sloths, monkeys, snakes, and various species of frogs and spiders. You will learn all about their unique behavior at night before returning to your accommodation at the end of the evening.

 

Day 20 Departure
