Day-to-Day Itinerary – 15-Day Individual Suriname Tour
Day 1 - 3 Arrival & Historic Paramaribo
Upon arrival at Suriname's international airport, you’ll be picked up and transferred to a comfortable hotel in the city center of Paramaribo, where your journey begins. The hotel is within walking distance of bars, restaurants, and other amenities.
On Day 2, you’ll enjoy a city tour to explore the highlights of Paramaribo, including the Waterkant, Independence Square with its statues and colonial buildings, the Presidential Palace, Fort Zeelandia, the adjacent mosque and synagogue, and the colorful Central Market. Discover the unique blend of colonial architecture and vibrant culture.
Day 3 - 5 Self - Guided Cycling Trip to Commewijne & Stay at Frederiksdorp
On Day 3, hop on your bicycle for an independent exploration of the historic plantations of Commewijne. You will receive a detailed route description filled with practical information, allowing you to pedal at your own relaxed pace. You will stay for 2 nights at Frederiksdorp, a beautifully restored former plantation that now offers comfortable historic accommodations.
Relax by the pool, join one of the optional excursions, taste authentic local dishes, or explore the surrounding historic plantations by bike. The neighboring historic plantations each have their own story and unique charm, making them perfect for a short stop.
On the final day, follow an alternative scenic route back to Paramaribo—the perfect way to enjoy the surroundings one last time before your next adventure begins.

Day 5 - 6 Paramaribo
A short return to Paramaribo for a relaxed overnight stay with no scheduled excursions, giving you time to unwind before the journey continues.
Day 6 - 7 Bigi Pan Nature Reserve
From Paramaribo, you’ll travel to the unique Bigi Pan Nature Reserve. On the way, you’ll pass through the lush Saramacca district, picturesque Coronie, and the vast rice fields of Nickerie.
Bigi Pan is an officially protected nature reserve and wetland area of 67,000-hectare wetland area, rich in flora and fauna, including flamingos, scarlet ibises, and other extraordinary coastal birds. Together with a local guide, you will explore the area in search of flamingos, scarlet ibises, and perhaps even a caiman.
You will spend the night in a simple yet unique lodge built on stilts over the water. From the lodge, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the lake, where the colors of the sky and water constantly change. A unique place to experience the magic of this nature reserve.
Day 7 - 9 Bloemendaal Apartments, Groningen
After returning from Bigi Pan, continue your journey to the Saramacca district for a two-night stay at the intimate Bloemendaal Apartments along the Saramacca River. Relax by the pool, visit the tranquil village of Groningen, or take an optional early morning boat trip to spot wildlife.
A special highlight nearby is the local sloth rescue center. In the evenings, indulge in the culinary creations of the resident chef, who prepares delicious meals using fresh, local ingredients. On Day 9, a private transfer will bring you back to Paramaribo for the next leg of your journey.
Day 9 - 10 Paramaribo
A short return to Paramaribo for an overnight stay with no scheduled excursions, perfect for enjoying a delicious dinner at one of the city's many excellent restaurants.
Day 10 - 13 Upper Suriname River & Maroon Culture
Stay on the Upper Suriname River at an authentic Maroon village, offering a charming and simple stay in the heart of the lush jungle. Here, you will immerse yourself in the rich Maroon culture and pristine nature. Together with expert local guides who know the area inside out, you will take village and forest walks, and head out by boat in the evening to spot wildlife, such as caimans.
The small-scale lodges are basic – with some featuring shared facilities – but offer an authentic experience where you witness daily village life firsthand and interact with the local community in a natural way.
Day 13 - 15 Brownsberg & Palulu
End your tour with the final 2 nights at Palulu, a charming and small-scale jungle resort. Enjoy comfortable cabanas with air conditioning, hot and cold water, and a terrace. Take a refreshing swim in the inviting cola-colored creek or relax with a book in a hammock.
On Day 14, you will take a day trip to Brownsberg National Park. During a hike through the jungle, admire the waterfalls and enjoy panoramic views of the Brokopondo Reservoir.
Day 15 Departure
After an unforgettable journey, you will be transferred from Palulu to the airport for your return flight.
